Infinity Loop and Images of Eggs was a joint exhibition by Michael Baastrup Chang and Mette Ussing at Cath Alexandrine Danneskiold-Samsøe Gallery, Copenhagen, in 2012. The show reflected Chang’s transition toward material- and process-focused painting, rooted in historic techniques and natural materials.
Inspired by tempera painting and ancient binders, Chang worked with lime, pigment, and egg-based mediums to build layered surfaces requiring patience and long drying times. The exhibition emphasized art as a slow, organic process—allowing materials to develop their own voice and often yielding surprising results. Works explored themes of growth, failure, and dialogue between artists.
Michael Baastrup Chang (b. 1973) studied at Central Saint Martins in London and is based in Copenhagen. Later solo shows include Life After Ninety (2016), Colours Collected from a Childhood (2020), and Graphite (2022). More information at www.galleri-ws.dk.
